Man has exploited wind energy since the dawn of time.
Marginalised in France for the longest time, the domestic wind turbine is gaining in popularity
Installing a wind turbine (or air generator) makes it possible to produce power to heat your house and lower your electric bill. If production exceeds consumption, the surplus can be sold to a distribution network.
There are 2 systems:
- the horizontal axis wind turbine with mast
- the vertical axis wind turbine, better suited to an urban environment
The wind turbine includes a rotor that generally consists of 2 or 3 blades attached to the hub. The latter run at a maximum speed of 30 revolutions per minute. An electric motor controlled by a vane directs the wind turbine facing the wind.
On a site well exposed to wind (10H/day), a 2 KW wind turbine can produce 3 000 kWh of electricity a year, which represents the electric consumption of a family of four.
Administrative conditions
Up to a height of 12 meters, no declaration is necessary.
Beyond 12 meters, you need to apply for a building permit.
Tax incentives
The installation of a wind turbine can result in a tax credit of 50% and to VAT at 5.5% if the installation is performed by a professional (residence more than 2 years old).
The Home Improvement Agency or HIA (ANAH) can grant financial assistance if the home is over 15 years old and is the primary residency of the owner or tenant.
