France prohibits the use of asbestos since 1997.
All owners selling a property built before 01.07.1997 are required to produce an asbestos survey report performed by a specialist certified by the Ministry of Housing.

The average cost of the survey is close to € 100 for an 80 m2 home.

Its validity is permanent if no trace of asbestos is detected.

The survey involves private areas. If asbestos is detected, an agreement between the seller and the buyer must be concluded to determine which party will pay for the work to bring the property into line.

If the buyer accepts the renovation, he/she has 3 years to do the work.
