the energy performance certificate

Designed to build awareness on the fight against the greenhouse effect, the energy performance certificate, called the EPC, is mandatory for :
- real estate sales since 01.11.2006
- rentals since 01.07.2007

It must be established by a certified body and include ::

  • information on the quantity of energy consumed or estimated for the home (thermal characteristics of equipment for heating, hot water production, etc.)
  • dadvice on work that could be done to conserve energy (evaluation of potential savings, the possibility of a tax credit , calculation of the return on investment, etc.) and participate in the fight against global warming
  • technical recommendations (energy management)

The energy performance certificate costs about € 200 and is valid for 10 years.
